REPAIR OR REPLACE?
Understand the problem
before choosing new equipment.
Frequent service calls, a major repair quote, unavailable parts or a system that struggles to keep the home comfortable can make replacement worth discussing.
Uneven temperatures, high humidity, rising bills or short cycling also deserve an assessment. These symptoms can come from equipment, airflow or other issues; they do not automatically mean the entire system needs replacing.
Compare the repair findings, condition, repair history and complete replacement cost. Our repair-or-replace guide gives you a checklist for that conversation.

MORE THAN MATCHING THE OLD UNIT
System sizing
and airflow matter.
We use a Manual J load calculation during the replacement assessment to determine your home’s heating and cooling needs. The calculation considers details such as insulation, windows, home size and orientation.
A larger unit is not automatically a better choice. Correct sizing and airflow matter for temperature control, humidity and system operation.

What goes into
your replacement price?
The equipment is one part of the quote. Compare the work included and the conditions at your home.
Equipment & capacity
System type, matched components, calculated capacity and efficiency choices affect the equipment recommendation and price.
Ductwork & connections
Duct repairs, airflow changes, thermostat work and required electrical, gas or venting changes can affect the installation scope.
Access & installation work
Equipment location, access, removal of the old system and project requirements influence the work involved and schedule.
Use this checklist when comparing written estimates.
- Equipment: model numbers, capacity, efficiency and included components.
- Installation: removal, setup, start-up checks and cleanup included in the price.
- Related work: ducts, controls, connections and any required permits.
- Warranty: parts and labor terms, registration and maintenance requirements.
- Schedule: expected duration and how service interruptions will be handled.
- Total: included costs, exclusions and any payment or financing terms.
Ask for differences to be explained before comparing prices. Your free replacement estimate should identify the proposed work for your home.

BEFORE YOU CHOOSE A SYSTEM
HVAC replacement questions.
How do I know whether to repair or replace my system?
Start with the actual diagnosis, repair history, equipment condition and a comparison of repair and replacement costs. Refrigerant type and parts availability can also affect the decision. A repair may make sense when the remaining equipment is in good condition; age alone does not decide it.
Is the replacement estimate free?
Yes. We offer free replacement estimates. Tell us if your equipment is currently failing so we can confirm whether you need a replacement assessment, diagnostic repair visit or both. Diagnostic testing and repair work may involve separate charges.
How much does HVAC replacement cost?
The price depends on the equipment, system size, installation scope, ductwork, connections and access at your home. A free replacement estimate lets us evaluate the project and explain the proposed work in writing. Compare equipment, included installation work, exclusions and warranty terms across quotes.
How long does an HVAC replacement take?
Most replacements are completed within a day. Projects involving ductwork changes, electrical work or difficult access can take longer. We’ll discuss your project’s expected schedule before installation.
Do the furnace and air conditioner need replacing together?
Not always. We review component compatibility, condition and the options for a properly matched system. Replacing one component may be appropriate, while other projects benefit from replacing both. We’ll explain the recommended scope and any performance or warranty implications.
Can my current ductwork be reused?
Often, yes. We assess its condition and suitability for the proposed system. If repairs, sealing or sizing changes are needed, they should be included in the project discussion before you approve the equipment.
What size HVAC system does my home need?
We use a Manual J load calculation to assess your home’s heating and cooling needs. The correct size depends on the building, insulation, windows and other factors. Choosing by square footage alone or simply matching the old unit can miss important conditions.
Will a new system lower my energy bills?
It may, depending on the equipment being replaced, the new system’s efficiency, installation, ductwork, weather and how you use the home. We’ll discuss the options without promising a particular saving.
What equipment brands can I choose from?
We are an American Standard dealer and also install Mitsubishi, Carrier, Goodman and Lennox systems. The recommendation and available choices depend on your home, project scope and equipment availability.
